The racing version of the Opel Astra, feverishly preparing for the formal involvement in the championship Touring Car Racer (TCR).
Important role in good looks plays and aerodynamics of the body. This version of the Astra has an advantage compared to its competitors, at almost the same specifications as the production model. The “Car of the Year 2016” carries an excellent drag coefficient (Cd: 0,272), which is an ideal base for a racing car. Already the Opel Astra TCR, under the guidance of the Director of Opel Motorsport Division Ntitmar Metrich, has undergone a series of aerodynamic tests, which took place in the tunnel at the University of Stuttgart.
Compared to the production model, the width of the Opel Astra TCR is increased to 1950 mm, while the bumpers have been modified, the wings and the side panels. Under the hood lies the engine of 2.0 liters with 330 horsepower output and torque of up to 42.8 kg. The movement is transmitted to the front wheels through a dual-clutch 6-speed gearbox with sequential mode. Also, the braking system has front discs 378 mm with 6pistones calipers and 265 mm rear. The official “first” of the new Opel Astra TCR will take place in the opening race of the championship in Sakchir track of Bahrain, on 3 April.
